What is Composite Decking?
Composite decking is a combination of:
- recycled wood and plastic,
- wood flour PVC,
- or wood fibres,
- and polyethylene
These materials are combined with a binding agent. Which results in a stronger, more dense, and more durable product than wood alone.
Advancement in composite decking materials has resulted in a wide variety of options. If you are looking for an even stronger option.
Composite decking with an option that provides an extra layer of protection. It’s a very thin layer of PVC coating for the boards. This exterior coat provides increased resistance to fading, scratches, stains, and water.
As well, composite decking material does not contain any chemicals or toxins. It’s usually composed of recycled plastics and waste wood. Which makes it an eco-friendly building material.
Most composite decking materials look like wood. So you’ll see a wood grain or brush stroke pattern. This is an attractive alternative for people who like the look of wood. But do not like the maintenance of sanding and painting that comes with it.
Composite decks are also:
- barefoot friendly,
- soft to the touch,
- doesn’t splinter,
- and can withstand inclement weather
Which is ideal for our hot summers and cold winters here in Regina.
