Wood fencing is versatile, stylish and hardwearing. As well as providing you with that extra measure of privacy and security.

There are many things to consider when building a wood fence.

• A Cedar wood fence (no stain or paint)

In Regina, we have clay-based soil. Which means the soil will expand and contract. With moisture, the clay expands. In our dry summers, the clay drys out.

Because of our cold winters, fence posts should also be set into the ground at least feet. This will help prevent the frozen ground from pushing the post up.

This will cause the soil around the fence posts to loosen. For that reason, we highly recommend securing the fence posts in the ground with concrete, or at least adding crusher dust into the hole and tamping around the post.
